Format: Sheet Music
Individual pieces of music printed on oversized sheets of paper, usually folded together without being bound. These often feature an ornate illustration on the front cover. Suitable to be placed on the desk of a keyboard instrument for performance, this format was mostly associated with secular music but also applied to concert spirituals and some sacred art music. Pieces of sheet music assembled into larger volumes, whether by the publisher or a purchaser, also appear in this collection.
